It was almost eleven and Marsha was still clacking away on her computer in the lab. Nearly everyone had already went to bed but of course, she had to stay behind and finish the work she started. With a sigh, she opened up another data table and started to record the agility of the children from the past week.
"...Cindy Collins," She said lowly to herself as she typed. She stopped for a brief moment afterwards and decided to erase it. Substituting Cindy's name she write "Princess". Marsha smiled when she thought back to how Cindy decided that she wanted everyone to call her by her Superhero name from now on. It was adorable to see her face get all scrunched up when she was annoyed and had to remind someone that Cindy was only her alias.
She continued to type in the weekly various numbers when a thought suddenly came to her. Why didn't she have a superhero name? She had powers didn't she? She sometimes went on missions with Jack, Connor and the kids, right? But she didn't have her name on that secret wall. No, Marsha was just plain...Marsha. Biting her lip, she squinted her eyes at the fuzzy screen. Why didn't she have one?
"I thought you'd be down here."
Marsha smiled to herself and rolled her chair around. "Well, if it isn't Captain Zoom himself. I thought you'd be asleep by now."
"It's only eleven." He whined playfully before giving her a peck on the cheek. "And I couldn't get to sleep without you."
"Uh huh," Marsha said finishing up the last of the data before clicking save. She might as well finish tomorrow because she doubted she'd get any work done now with Jack here. After shutting down the computer she got up and slipped a hand into his. "Excuses, excuses Mr. Shepard."
"You need a break," Jack said, "You've been working twenty-four hours straight. When do you breath?"
"For you're information, I breath just well, remember?" She gave his hand a squeeze. They exited the computer lab and was now walking down the almost empty hallway.
"No, I think I recall you having a special blowing power."
She gave his a playful smack. "Let's not go onto that subject, please."
"But you do it so well." The leader of the team grinned and winked.
Marsha only rolled her eyes. The two continued to walk in silence before she piped up. "How come I don't have a superhero nickname?"
Jack cocked an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"You know, you're Zoom, Connor's Concussion, Cindy's Princess. I have powers too and all I am is boring Marsha Holloway."
"Well, you certainly aren't boring." Jack grinned at her again.
Marsha gave him another whack. "I'm serious. I want a nickname for the wall."
"Okay, okay." Jack replied and squeezed his eyes shut making a small humming noise. "I've got one! What about Blow Girl?"
"Jack!" Marsha said laughing. "How about we stay away from the sexual innuendo?"
"Fine," He grumbled and started to think again. "What do you think of Storm?"
"Taken," Marsha said almost automatically. "Ororo Munroe aka Storm in the X-Men series."
"Marsha, X-Men isn't real."
"I don't want to be a copy cater!"
"You wouldn't be copying. Storm is a very ...general nickname." Jack pointed out.
"Try again." Marsha said.
"Okay, okay. How about Whisper?" He suggested.
Marsha thought about this. "No...Summer already has a name that starts with a W."
Jack threw up his hands. "Picky much?"
"Sorry but it has to be a good one! I want to remembered in comics as someone other than Blow Girl."
"There's also Blow Woman."
Marsha let out an aggravated grunt.
"I'll take that as a no. Well, what about Tempest?"
"Tempest." Marsha repeated. "Hm, that has a nice ring to it."
"Thank you!" He said loudly to no one in particular.
They finally reached Marsha's room and she flicked the light on and smiled to herself then turned to Jack. "So Zoom, are you up for a game of Superheros?"
Jack returned the grin. "I think I am, Tempest." He wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Mm, how about tonight I be Blow Girl?" Marsha winked.
